Welcome to Baltimore, Ohio

Not to be confused with Baltimore, MD, the quainter Village of Baltimore looks and feels like a quintessential Central Ohio small town. Expansive farmhouse properties and mature trees line the streets, American flags flutter in the breeze, and Main Street is home to old-fashioned brick buildings and local businesses. All these things and more earned this charming community its motto of "A Place You Can Call Home."

Live, Work, and Play in Baltimore

Education

Students who live in Baltimore can attend public schools within the Liberty Union-Thurston Local School District, which serves Baltimore residents in addition to those in Liberty, Violet, and Walnut Townships. The school district prides itself on having a well-rounded curriculum as strong as its roaring lion mascot. The local elementary school is walking distance from a multi-acre land lab that provides an immersive educational experience for its students.

Dining

A drive down Main Street will take you past Baltimore's best restaurants in one fell swoop. You can expect to see all the small-town staples—a local coffee shop on the corner, a pizza joint with the biggest slices in town, and an old-timey drive-in serving up sweet scoops of ice cream all summer. And if you're feeling something deep fried, Baltimore Pint House's "BPH Bombs" are the talk of the town—think panko-breaded potatoes smothered with bacon, cheese, and sour cream.

Parks & Recreation

Baltimore is home to four Village Parks, all of which are well-maintained and jam-packed with amenities. Perhaps the most popular of the local parks, Johnson Park houses the Village swimming pool in addition to sports fields and playground equipment. The Village pool hosts swimming lessons along with a variety of community events. The perfect spot to lay out your red and white checkered blanket, Basil Park was recently renovated by the Basil Garden Club to have the finest picnic facilities.

History

There's nothing more local than the history surrounding Baltimore. In the early 1800s, the Ohio and Erie Canal was constructed in the area and propelled the economy. Today, the remnants of eight of the locks, including Bibler, Dry Dock, and Wells Locks stand as testaments to the area's historical importance. Want to learn more about the Village's history? Be sure to stop by the Baltimore Community Museum, located in the historic Griley House on East Market Street.
