Five high school teachers hold adjunct instructor status through local community colleges, which allows them to teach college courses to students during the school day.
Humble History
In 1815, the founder of Alexandria—Alexander Devilbiss— came to the area in a covered wagon with his family from Maryland. A place of humble beginnings, Alexandria started with a mill, a few churches, and a tobacco factory. The village is known for its fast-running creeks that have sustained as many as 50 mills at one time or another. A real symbol of resilience, Alexandria has survived three bank robberies, several fires, and still managed to maintain its strong rural character.

Spend the day at one of Alexandria’s many parks to fully grasp the happy-go-lucky feel of the community. Tucked under tons of shady trees, you’ll find Parker Community Park. This 6-acre park hosts numerous community events—including Alexandria Days—and has a ball diamond for baseball lovers. Immerse yourself in Alexandria’s stunning scenery at Lobdell Park and Reserve. Here, you’ll find 8 miles of multi-use trails and a championship-caliber disc golf course.
